Local Unit & Position Description

This role is for the operation of Global Operations and Analytics Centre, a state of the art facilities that will monitor and assess the performance of wind and solar plants 24 x 7 located across the world. This facility will house the suite of our software for in-depth performance assessment and will be centre of innovation using big data analytics, machine learning and further application of artificial intelligence.

In this role, you will be directly reporting to Head of Section- Global Operations & Analytics Centre.

  • As a senior data and operations analytics engineer, you are expected to play a key role in functioning of Global Operations & Analytics Centre and contribute to continuously raising the standard of asset management across the World.
  • You are expected to play a key role in revision and introduction of methodologies, standards, new services in tune with fast changing business and technological environment.

The individual role will include the following:

  • Monitor real-time operations and the performance of wind/solar farm assets across the globe and apply established procedures in order to guarantee maximum availability, sale of energy, and wind farm service.
  • Visually monitor and read parameters, data points, and sensor outputs at specified intervals to verify operating conditions and to detect faults and malfunctions.
  • Evaluate system alarms and irregularities, taking corrective action as outlined in established guidelines
  • Ensure turbine and substation data integrity for internal databases used for reporting purposes
  • Analysis of data to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Assist in the creation of troubleshooting documentation and root-cause analysis tools. Review control centre operations and provide recommendations for improvement on all policies, procedures, operations, and technical issues
  • Design, implement and document quality control measures for data collection, data mapping, and data management as well as test and approve system changes/enhancements that will impact data quality and reporting changes/enhancements that will impact data quality and reporting
  • Perform root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and aid in resolution of wind turbine/Inverter faults.
  • Perform power performance evaluations to monitor and evaluate reasons for underperformance issues.
  • Monitoring weather at sites for safety of maintenance technicians
  • Application of Big data and machine learning algorithms to anticipate typical problems, identify potential or recurring problems, discover opportunities for improvements, and take appropriate action.
  • Ensure compliance to all regulatory and contractual requirements through adherence to all operational procedures, processes, and policies.
  • Mentoring and training other employees to ensure employees are properly trained and competent complete with the appropriate documentation.
  • Respond to changing conditions with regard to maximizing plant safety and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with regional personnel and system operators from other companies on matters pertaining to customer problems or demands. Utilize accurate and efficient three-way communication skills on inbound and outbound telephone conversations.
  • Maintain an environment oriented to trust and help team members reach their potential
  • Participate in R&D projects and contribute to publishing of journal papers.
  • Any other appropriate duties as directed by line management
  • Coordinating input from cross-functional global technical specialists and writing of the technical due diligence reports.


Position Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of applicable work and technical wind/solar industry experience. Military or maritime background is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Additionally, a course of study that demonstrates strong analytical and technical skills
  • Aptitude and passion for data analysis, an eye for the details and ability to see the larger picture and patterns in the abstract setting.
  • Programming skills in R/Python and SQL is desirable
  • Well versed in probability, statistics and applied mathematics; conceptualise, develop and test various statistical models successfully.
  • Ability to work in a pressurised consultancy environment – operating to tight timescales.
  • Working hours are 40 per week. However, the position will be on a rotating shift that will require the candidate to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Experience in 24/7 work settings preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written, with demonstrated ability to follow instructions diligently.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality, be detail oriented and disciplined, and adept at multi-tasking.
